Lauderhill raises tax, fire fees--

Homeowners will pay a higher tax rate and fire fee under a fiscal year 2004-2005 budget adopted Monday night by Lauderhill commissioners.Starting Oct. 1, residents will see their property tax rate increase from $5.82 to $6.02 per $1,000 of assessed value. Under the new rate, the owner of a $150,000 home who takes a $25,000 homestead exemption will pay $752.50 a year in city property taxes, up from $727.50.
The fee residents pay for fire protection will increase from $98 to $142.
