GUIDELINES FOR THE INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS AND SHUTTERS
AT LAUDERHILL EAST

The committee for the replacement of windows at Lauderhill East had several meetings with the chief inspector of the City of Lauderhill and various experts in the field. After reviewing the data, the committee established the guidelines below. It is important to note that you do not have to change your windows nor do you have to install shutters. However, if you decide to replace your windows or to install shutters, you must follow these procedures:

WINDOWS

A. NORMAL WINDOWS

1. If you decide to install normal windows (non-impact), they must be in aluminum, single hung, with white frame and clear glass.

2. If there is no shutter already installed where you are replacing the window, you must install an aluminum shutter painted beige. For samples see Bradley 210 and Dover 111.

B. HURRICANE WINDOWS (IMPACT)

If you decide to install impact windows, they must be in aluminum, single hung, the frame must be white with clear glass. For example, the windows must be PGT 700 series or equivalent (see the attached pamphlet).

AUTHORIZATION

An owner planning to install new windows and shutters (impact) must ensure that they are in accordance with Florida laws and approved by the City of Lauderhill.
In addition, he or she must first obtain the written approval of the president of his or her building (form available at the office). This authorization is necessary before proceeding with the installation.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OWNER

The owner must make sure that the windows and the shutters correspond to the guidelines adopted by Lauderhill East and that the installation is done according to the City of Lauderhill which is in effect at the time of installation.

If these procedures are not respected, a fine may be levied and/or the owner may be requested to remove the window(s) and/or the shutter(s) that are not appropriate.

The president of the building will have to provide an answer within 10 days from the date of the request which will include all the above requirements to grant authorization.

The owner will be held responsible for the maintenance of his/her windows and shutters and for all damages caused by the contractor.
