NOTICE OF DEATH
Arnold Joseph Frankel

Frankel, Arnold Joseph, passed away on June 6, 2009. Born November 18, 1918 he was the son of the late Elias Frankel and the late Josie Frankel Obstler. Brother of the late Elkan Felix Frankel and the late Helaine Frances Frankel. Victimized in 1922 with infantile paralysis (later called Polio) he was able to play baseball and do some running after many submersions in the Atlantic Ocean in Atlantic City for over a year every weekend by his devoted mother who drove from NY to the ocean every weekend at a time when women were not considered drivers of long trips. He had a reputation of always "getting things done". Red tape only meant something else to "cut" to Arnold. From childhood to the time of his death he was a true and loyal New York Yankee fan. The photo of Minnie Mouse and Arnold was one of his favorites. He went up the ranks in Riverside District NYC via Eagle Scout with 3 Silver Palms and the Vigil honor of the Order of the Arrow. He took over Scout Troop 579 as Scoutmaster in 1942 and stayed with them in Nieuw Amsterdam District (formerly Riverside) until 1971 (29 years) and had the honor of having 43 scouts reach the rank of Eagle (they called 579 the Eagle factory) with a personal honor of the adults in the district choosing him for the coveted Silver Beaver award. He relocated with his sister, Helaine, in 1977 to Lauderhill, In the Lauderhill East condo he again started to be active. President of Camelot building for 14 years; 5 terms as Council President; 8 years President of the Men's Club and 8 years Chairman of the Condo Civic Committee. Currently served as Secretary of Camelot Hall, making a total of 5 years. Editor of the Lauderhill East "Broadcast", a monthly 12 issue yearly condo paper that he started in 1979 and stopped in 1998. While using a walker in his later years due to Post Polio Syndrome and passing the 80 and 85 marks, he was able to finally join Elias, Josie, Elkan and Helaine wherever that place is to be. Donations can be made to Hospice or charity of choice. Cards can be sent to the family c/o Henry Laffer, Esq., 8927 Hypoluxo Road, Suite A-5, Lake Worth, FL 33467.
