The Georgia Department of Driver Services (GA DDS) states that "Georgia recognizes valid driver licenses issued to and held by residents of other countries as long as the "Out Of Country" license is valid (not expired). Generally, you may drive in Georgia for up to one year on a valid foreign license. Please note that if the driver's license issued to you in your home country is not printed in English, then you will also need a valid International Driving Permit (IDP)." The IDP is a translation of your license into many different languages, including English.  You an only get the IDP in the country you have received you driving permit.  Please visit the following USA.gov FAQ for information about getting an IDP in your country.

Voici une autre opinion au sujet du permis. Une connaissance de mon beau-frère, de passage en Georgie s'est informé et voici l'information qui en résulte:

 

Hier je suis passé en Georgie et j'ai téléphoné à la patrouille de police qui contrôle l'interstate 95 via l'information touristique de la Georgie. On m'a confirmé que le permis est nécessaire si on reste un mois en Georgie, sinon il n'y a pas de problème et il n'y a pas de barrages. La policière connaissait très bien la problématique des Québécois sur ce sujet et elle était déçu que cette information soit véhiculée.
