LAUDERHILL- Residents will pay the same city tax rate as last year -- $5.95 per $1,000 in assessed property value -- under a $117 million budget given final approval on Wednesday.

However, there will be some cuts in services.

The city laid off 16 full-time staffers and nine part-timers from various departments including finance, transportation and parks and recreation. In addition, 12 vacant positions were eliminated.

And an on-demand shuttle used by many seniors to get to a local community center will no longer be in operation.
