Groundbreaking for central Broward park

A groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. today for Broward County's new Central Regional Park.

The 109-acre park, on the north side of Sunrise Boulevard between the Swap Shop and State Road 7 in Lauderhill, will be the largest park in central Broward.

Plans call for a multipurpose sports-entertainment complex; an aquatics facility; picnic shelters; basketball, netball and tennis courts; soccer and football fields, a water playground, a large lake for non-motorized boating, walking paths and nature trails
