SENIOR SAFETY TIPS
Shop in pairs or groups and
during daylight hours. If you carry a pocketbook, keep it small or tucked away from view. Consider carrying your money in a money belt or in your sock. Put credit cards in front pockets. Wear your purse across your chest when possible. Never wrap the strap around your wrist. Wrap the strap over your shoulder and tuck the bag under your arm. Scan parking lots for suspicious people or vehicles before heading to your car.
If confronted, don't resist. Nothing is worth losing your life. Cooperate and memorize everything you.can about the person's appearance, such as height, weight, race, age, hair color. This will help police. Call 911 as soon as possible. Most law enforcement agencies have crime-prevention specialists who will check your home and advise you about weak spots in security. Call your police department for a free inspection.
